LOCAL & GLOBAL MISSIONS
Ogeechee River Baptist Association
“A Family of Churches Making Christ Known”
ORBA is a group of member churches who gather together, sharing resources, to reach the lost in our community. Services are available through the association that may not be available in each church because of the size and limited resources of the church.
Lottie Moon
On December 12, 1840, in Virginia to a set of affluent and staunchly Baptist parents. Her name at birth was Charlotte Digges Moon, but everyone called her “Lottie.” At the age of 33, Lottie was officially appointed as a missionary and giving permission to report to the North China Mission Station. Lottie became an evangelist and Baptist missionary serving primarily in Tengchow and Pingtu. Because of Lottie’s determination, Women’s Missionary Union collected a Christmas offering to give to the International Mission’s Board. In1918, at Annie Armstrong’s suggestion, WMU named the offering in the name of Lottie Moon. Today, we still give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in honor of her work and sacrifice to keep our missionaries on the field. One hundred percent of the offering collected by Southern Baptists is to support international missions.
Annie Armstrong
Join the Great Commision and make Jesus known among the nations. By contributing to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering we support missionaries working tirelessly to bring the Gospel of Christ to a lost and dying world. See the beauty of the Lord working through ordinary people. We will collect this special offering during our worship services at Easter. This offering benefits missions entirely on North America to reach the lost on our continent.
Malasia
Pioneer Missions Global supports workers who are serving in key regions around the world, including areas where the gospel is not openly welcomed. As a church, we partner with one such family who grew up in our community and are now serving in a sensitive location through Pioneer Missions Global. Because of the nature of their work, we ask for your prayerful support and discretion when discussing their mission.
Park Bench Ministries, Savannah, GA.
During the month of February, the Lighthouse Baptist Church will be collecting bennies and gloves (adult size). This drive will benefit the Park Bench Ministries at 40th and Bull downtown Savannah. When people lack the resources to get through today, it’s difficult for them to focus on tomorrow. Let’s give them an opportunity so they can have a more hopeful future as they walk with God. This is a way to continue to support each other, the community and those in need.
